Match Report

Romford took on Norwich looking to extend a 6 match winning streak to 7 , at a very windy but sunny day at crow lane HQ .

Park kicked of playing into a very strong wind , wind being that strong the ball went 10 metres backwards rather then 10 forwards at the restart.

From the resulting scrum the first penalty was given away and Norwich elected for post some 55m out , the kicker nudged it had legs but not the accuracy.

A good number of early exchanges between park and Norwich , however park gaining momentum, breaking the gain line only for an infringement 5 metres past the 22 for jack Mac veigh to slot the first penalty of the game 3-0 park.

Park carried on with the dominance and with a number of attacking scrums found them self yet again near the line . Norwich in trouble brought on a replacement prop which gave them a bit more parity at this point , a number of phases a snipe  from scrum half Barney Savil left of the post to score and the conversion by Macveigh making the scores 10-0.

Park switched of 10 mins before the end of the second half allowing the Norfolk opposition two gifted try’s , for park to go in 10-14 - at the start of the game with the wind you would of took that but with the control
Of the first 30 mins park was some what disappointed to losing.

Words said challenges agreed and Norwich kicked of Romford moved the ball well but unfortunately couldn’t find an early break through , Norwich on the other hand did and pushed the lead out to 10-21 .

Strong words had park knew they had it all to do , first up a 45 metre pen knocked over by Macveigh 13-21 .

With the crowd sensing the come back is on they really got behind the boys , park again responded with a try from vice skipper Aidan mersh , Macveigh with his kicking boots on made the score 20-21 .

Park now finding rhythm also decided to find the space out wide with some quick hands found prop Karl Prestoe out wind to crash over and Macveigh nudging from the touch line to retake the lead 27-21 .

Yet again park mounted pressure and found them self in the opposition 22 only for Norwich to give away a penalty for the kicking machine Jack Macveigh taking advantage and adding the extras to
Make it 30-21.

Norwich finally got he ball and mounted an attack of there own , with a romford infringement in front of the post the Norwich kicker bought the game back to 30-24.

Again from the restart park mounted the pressure and regained possession of the ball  only for another penalty given away by Norwich - Jack on point to
Push the score 33-24 .

With Norwich still not letting go immediately mounted a serious of attacks park keeping out trying to see out the remaining moments of the game , eventually the wall broke and Norwich scored and converted , with the ref blowing the final whistle a sense of relief from all Romford players and supporters as the come back from the brink to win the game 33-31 .

Man of the match Jack Macveigh at his 18 points total from the game .

All in all a very tough and physical game and a game which in the repeat fixture last season Norwich got the better over park both home and away, without doubt the toughest of tests from any opposition this season .

With saffron warden losing at home to stowmarket , Park now have moved to second in the league and face league leaders Woodford on 17 November in which will look to be a great of rugby .

Also like to thank the fantastic under 10s for a excellent job in being ball boys and water boys , always welcome guys and wish you all the luck for your game on Sunday .
