
Lee Wheeler
Lee is a long-standing member having joined as a youth player over 35 years ago. A versatile player, he played throughout the club, which included a spell as a successful captain of the club’s “A XV”. His major contribution came during his nine-year spell as Club Chairman, during which the club finally managed the sale of two pockets of waste land for development, making the club debt-free and enabling a major refurbishment of the clubhouse. We also acknowledge his contribution to the establishment of “Slaters” - the club’s catering outlet – along with his management of the club kitchen for many years.
Steve Barfoot
A player of outstanding commitment and ability. A member of over 35 years standing, with 20 of these playing at a senior level, he captained the club for a number of seasons, before taking on the role of Chair of the Senior Rugby Committee. During his playing career, he was accorded the Sportsman of the Year award on no less than 5 occasions. Off the field, he was just as committed to work in maintenance work on the clubhouse and grounds.
Rob Petrie
A prominent member of the club, Rob has undertaken a number of roles within the club. A former 4th XV captain, he has worked as Chair of Youth and Mini Rugby, and is still seen on Sunday mornings, whistle in hand. In recent years, in recent seasons he has been the Club Treasurer, whilst also overseeing the management of the club kitchen, along with that of catering for club functions. A regular in supporting club teams, and always in evidence assisting club working parties.
Stewart Stevens
Since joining the club, Stewart has made a considerable contribution to the development of Mini and Youth Rugby. As Chair of Mini Rugby, he was responsible for the organization of highly successful County Festivals. For many seasons, he refereed regularly on Sunday mornings, whilst also fulfilling the role of Club Referee Coordinator. In recent seasons, he has taken over the management of the Club Shop, also to be seen as a regular with any grounds management and other working parties.
Micky James
Joining the Youth section over 30 years ago, Micky has shown himself to be a most loyal and committed club member. With hooker his preferred position, he was often prepared to play in unaccustomed positions when club needs demanded. He captained the club for a remarkable ten seasons from 2009 to 2019, accumulating over 350 games (and counting) along the way. In recent seasons, he has become a regular member of the coaching team.
