It is with great sadness that we have to record the recent passing of Andy McGill.

Andy or, as many referred to him as "McGorilla", was a loyal and popular member of Romford & Gidea Park for over 50 years. Starting out as a winger, over the years he moved nearer to the forwards and, via the back row, he finally reached the front row where he forged a reputation as a powerful scrummager, whilst still maintaining a reputation as a talented all-round rugby player.

Ever keen to continue playing and support the lower sides, Andy also made a strong contribution to the development of Mini and Youth Rugby at the club. In recognition of his long and valued service to the club, Andy was made a Life Member in 2005.

At this sad time, our thoughts are with his family and friends, many of whom will be members of the Romford rugby family.

The Forest Park Cemetery & Crematorium,
Forest Road,
Hainault,
IG6 3HP.
on Tuesday 13th October @ 11.30 am.

Family flowers only. It is requested that any donations in Andy's memory are made to St Francis Hospice.

Following the service, you are invited to join the family at Romford & Gidea Park RFC, where members will have the opportunity to exchange stories of their rugby adventures with Andy.
