Diss v R&GP 1st XV - 8th March 2014

000A - The teams
001 - Park move it wide at the first opportunity As ross Inwood (15) passes to Vytaras Bloskys (14)
002 - Vytaras attacks down the right wing
003 - and then returns the pass inside to Ross
004 -
005 - who looks inside for support from Matt Phillips (10).as Dan Harnett (12) supports
006 - Matt unloads to Dan
007 - First scrum of the day - Matthew Worral-Clare (3), Micky James (2) and Max Irwin (1) get ready to do battle
008 - The Diss scrum half breaks but is embraced by Reece Parr (9)
009 - Matt moves the ball left to Dan as Vytaras comes off his wing to support
010 - The ball is fed to George Robinson (11)
011 - Matt heads for the posts
011A - his best Raging Bull impression
012 - but runs into a very solid Diss prop
013 - Charlie wilkinson (7) gets into the act
014 - Jake Jones (13) looks to linkl with Dan and George
015 - Paul Bradley (6) drives into the Diss defence. It is all Park at this time.
016 - Jake on the move again.
017 - Sam Cook (8) flies to take clean line out ball
018 - Matt scrambles towards the line
019 - Jake attacks on the right this time.
020 - Charlie brings Matthew into the attack as Park camp on the Diss line
021 - Back row and hooker combine to halt Matthew's charge.
022 - Now it is Cooky's turn while Ant Catchpole (5 but wearing 4) looks on
023 - Cooky crosses the line to touch down but the whistle has gone. Why didn't the ref play advanatge to Park.
024 - Park win their resulting scrum but the score is lost.
025 - Reece moves the ball to the backs
026 - Dan is tackled as he drives forward with the ball. Matt, without the ball, is tackled for good measure. Surely a penalty ref.
027 - Paul rises high to claim more line out ball
028 -
029 - Matt releases Vytaras down the wing
030 - Vytaras makes good gound towards the Diss line
031 - He chips the ball over the full back
032 - who though beaten hacks vytaras down with his legs. Not even acceptable for soccer.
033 - Vytaras is laid low. The chance to score is taken away. A yellow card for the Diss No. 15.
034 - Driving maul by Park within yards of the Diss line. The pressure is continual.
035 - a break away maul get within a couple of metres
036 - Reece moves the ball to the backs
037 - Matt spreads it wide. But no score materialises
038 - Matt Catchpole (4 but wearing 5) rises high to take clean ball.
039 - Again Reece moves the ball wide.
040 - a difficult ball for Matt
041 - is sent along the line
042 - to Dan
043 - for him to be tackled a few yards short of the posts
044 - A scrum rssults which Park disrupt and the ball goes loose for Reece to chase.
045 - Paul powers forwards
046 - Matthew in open play sends the ball to Matt C
047 -
048 - Penalty to Park. Ross steps up.
049 - Ross slots the ball between the posts.
050 - Confirmed by the touch judges. A score to Park at last. Score 0 - 3.
050A - A very rare sortie into the Park half by Diss
051 - leads to a try, which fortunately was unconverted. Score 5 - 3
052 - Max drives forward with Charlie and Paul in support
053 - Matthew, the raging rhino, supported by Ant.
054 - Vytaras chips infield this time, avoiding any chance of a repeat svaging by the Diss full back.
055 - The chase is on as the ball rolls towards the line. Will it bounce favourably?
056 - Not this time. Another prod soccer style.
057 - This abll will just not play game so Vytaras pokes it towards the corner.
058 - Where George is just beaten to the toch down by a Diss defender.
059 - A penalty to Park. Ross slides to ball just wide of the posts. That could be costly. Score still 5 - 3
060 - Dan tries some tricky footwork
061 - George in full flight
062 - But the cover is good.
063 - Cooky gets ready to drive the Diss defence out of the way. But with no sucess.
064 - Matt P moves the ball wide
065 - to George
066 - Who beats one defender with yards to go.
067 - but not the second and third.
068 - Matt P ensnared by the defence again.
069 - Scrum time. a big one required from Matthew, Micky, Max and the boys.
070 - Reece evades his opposite number
071 - Matt P covers the Diss centre as they try to break out of defence
072 - Twinkle toes Charlie
073 - Releases Matt P
074 - Who looks out side
075 - and releases the ball to George.
076 - whilst once again the man without the ball is tackled, this time Ross. Referee. Unfortunately the ball goes forward from Matt.
077 - Second half. Strangely no injury time played. Matt P and Jake get to grips with a Diss defender.
078 - Reece sends the ball high.
079 - Its been up there a long while. Has it achieved orbit? Is it the first Welsh satellite? will it ever come down?
080 - No. No. and Yes. Matt C takes clean line out ball
081 -
082 - Reece runs into the Diss heavy brigade.
083 - Ant wraps up a Diss attacker whilst brother Matt gets ready to assist.
084 - Diss try sneaking in at the corner in another rare vist to the Park half.
085 - But give away a penalty.
086 - Cooky picks up and drives from the back of an attacking Park scrum.
087 - Jake struggles to get to the line.
088 - but it is in vain as there are just to many defenders.
089 - Paul is the next to try supported by Ant.
090 - Matt sets up Ross
091 - who looks to release Vytaras
092 - and chips for Vytaras to chase. No sucess.
093 - Ian Semain (17 but wearing 9) joins the fray and makes a vital tackle. EIther that or he fancies a pair of Diss socks.
094 - Pete Obrien (16) joins the battle.
095 - To repalce Ant, who has given his all.
096 - A Diss penalty.
097 - A sucessful kick. Score 8 - 3.
098 - Ian only knows one way and that is forward
099 - but he is dragged down.
100 - but sets up the ruck.
101 - Matt sees a gap.
102 - but it closes rapidly.
103 - Now Paul finds one.
104 - But it is just not enough
105 - The ball in on the way to Vytaras who has substitute Ryan Hunter (18) in support.
106 - Mickey looks to feed Dan
107 - Another rare excursion by Dioss into Park territory.
108 - But is is sucessful. An unconverted try. Score 13-3. Come on Park points needed if we are not to go home empty handed.
109 - Matt sets the backs going again.
110 - Peter drags down the Diss No. 8
111 - The Diss oiut half is playing for position with a clearance kick.
113 - Matt sends Paul on his way.
114 - with delicate footwork he avoids the incoming prop.
115 - Matt P sets up Matthew.
116 - Vytaras has switched wings and is moving at pace
117 - he draws the cover and releases George
118 - Who hurtles down the line.
119 - as the Diss defenders chase him desparately
120 - He crosses the 22 as they close in.
121 - Checks to lose and wrong foot the defender.
122 - and heads towards the posts.
123 - As the Diss wing attempts to recover.
124 - A desparate tackle is launched
125 - and missed.
126 - The line is crossed.
127 - and the ball goes down for a try. Score 13 - 8
128 - Ross lines up the conversion
129 - It is straight and true.
130 - The touch judges flags are raised aloft. Score 13 - 10. But no time for any more points. End of match. So many opportunities missed. If only Cooky's try had stood.
