Letchworth GC v R&GP 1st XV 29th Mar. '14

000 - The Team
001 - John Davies (10) starts the game in great weather with a stiff cross wind. The pitch is in good condition.
002 - Captain Micky James (2) makes the first break for Park.
003 - anticipates the tackle
004 - and throws the ball over his shoulder missing Tyler Lawrence (1)
005 - Park's "Lithuanian Express" Vyrtaras Bloskys(11) heads for the corner flag with 4 Letchworth players for company.
006 - Vytraras wriggles from one tackle
007 - Drops towards the line
008 - And touches down. TRY
009 - The ref. confirms the score 0 - 5. Great start for Park after 1 minute
010 - Steve Barfoot (12) makes the first of many tackles as Jakey Jones (13) gets ready to help.
011 - From the tackle the ball is hacked upfield as Jakey and Peter O'Brien (4) head off in pursuit
012 - The bouncing continues
013 - The Letchworth back looks as if he will reach it first
014 - and then it bounces akwardly and Jakey moves in.
015 - he has it in his grasp.
016 - No he doesn't
017 - Pete collects and sends to John with an impressive dive pass
118 - John reviews the options.
020 - Releases wing forward Charlie Wilkinson (7)
021 - Who heads for the line with winger George Roberston (11) ready for the pass when the full back is committed.
022 - No Chance George. Bosh
023 - Fortunatley Charlie gets the touch down.
024 - Scrum half Tom Cameron (9) takes the conversion.
025 - The ball is on its way but in the stiff cross wind flies wide iof the posts. Score 0 -10 with 6 minutes played.
026 - Vytaras makes a tackle
028 - Wing forward Paul Bradley (6 but wearing 20) on a charge
029 - Paul unloads to Charlie
030 - Charlie passes to Jakey
031 - Jakey passes to John
032 - Who passes wide to George
033 - George collects a tricky ball
034 - George eyes up the defence
035 - Cuts inside and takes the tackle
036 - And releases to Charlie
037 - Who gets the ball to Tom
038 - who sets up Prop forward Matthew Worall-Clare (3) for a charge.
039 - Letchworth bring Matthew to ground.
040 - No, 8 Sam Cook looks for a gap in the Letchworth defence
041 - Scrum time and Sam releases Tom despite the attentions of the Letchworth scrum half.
042 - Matt Cathpole (5) on a charge
043 - Is tackled but looks for support in the shape of Matthew
044 - Matthew takes a good ball
045 - and spreads it wide to Peter
046 - Peter waits to draw the defender
047 - and release Charlie on his inside
048 - Charlie is through the gap and heading for the line
049 - The Letchworth No.8 attempts to collar him
050 - Charlie crosses the line
051 - And touches down for his second try and Park's third of the day. No conversion points so the score is 0 - 15 after 18 minutes
052 - Sam gets ready to batter the scrum half.
053 - Paul breaks loose again
054 - Eventually Paul is brought to ground but releases the ball to Vytaras
055 - Who is ensared by a desperate prop, possibly called Dan.
056 - Mick takes evasive action as Tom kicks to relieve pressure on the Park line.
057 - Desperate defennce agian as Letchworth drive under the Park posts
058 - Letchworth move the ball wide
059 - and Vytaras and Reece Parr (15) make a desparate tackle to avoid a score.
060 - Matt Catchpole takes good line out ball
061 - Letchworth's centre drives at Steve and John
062 - and wriggles through before releasing the ball for a team mate to head for the line
063 - try for Letchworth.
064 - The conversion is added. Score 7 - 15 after 33 minutes
065 -
066 - The "Politburo" looks on unimpressed.
067 - Reece tackles his opposite number as Letchworth apply sustained pressure
068 - Matt takes more line-out ball
069 - Second half starts with Park having an 8 point lead. You are looking the wrong way coach Cook.
070 - Charlie looks for a gap. Steve Moves to wing foraward as Paul goes off with a knee injury
071 - The ball gets to George who makes distance up the line

073 - Tom redistributes after a charge by Matthew
074 - Matt in full flight hits the Letchworth defence
075 - Matthew breaks out but forgets the ball.
076 - Heavy duty tackling by Matt and Tyler
077 - Ben Williams (17 but wearing 9, how will we be able to tel him apart from Tom?) joins in the centre and makes his first tackle.
078 - George is outnumbered
079 - The Letchworth subsititute heads for the line
080 - Try to Letchworth. Score 12 - 15 after 46 minutes.
082 - The conversion is on its way but misses
084 - Letchworth have their tails up and continue to attack
085 -
087 - Cooky dominates the line-out
088 - Letchworth's winger heads for the corner
089 - Only to be tackled by Reece
092 - Tom makes a break from defence with Steve in support
093 - A couple of cheery chappies.
094 - Letchworth attack again as two of their celebrities look on
095 - That 8 is putting pressure on George again.
096 - He slips past and heads for the line.
097 - There is no cover and Letchworth score their third try. Score 17 - 15. This does not look good.
098 - The converion is added. Score 19 - 15 after 63 minutes.
099 - Mitchell Noyce (18 but wearing 10) joins the defence in the second row as Matt retires hurt.
100 - The No. 8 sences more points as Tyler lines up a tackle.
102 - The ball moves wide for Letchworth
103 - it continues down the line
105 - and there is that No.18 again to cross the line
107 - Touch down close to the posts. No conversion. Score 24 - 15 after 69 minutes.
108 - Max Irwin (16) replaces Tyler in the front row.
109 - More desperate tackling by Park to avoid a try in the corner. The touch judge looks on intently whilst sipping his beer! Nice style and not a drop spilt.
110 - Letchworth continue the pressure.
111 - This time the outside half breaks through
112 -
113 - to touch down under the posts. The conversion was added so the score is 31 - 15 after 74 minutes.
114 - Letchworth continue to pressurise and Park now have no points for the table. Ben looks very determined.
115 - Tom breaks clear from the back of a scrum.
116 - Then finds he is surrounded.
117 -
118 - Steve breaks upflield to about 10 metres from the Letchworth line.
119 - Only to be hauled down.
120 - The ball is recycled and Park drive through the forwards.
121 - A ruck forms on the try line. Tom releases the backs.
122 - Another ruck forms and this time Tom sets the ball up for Matthew.
123 - He drives for the line.
124 - And Park breach the defence and Micky(?) touches down for a TRY. Great team effort.
125 - Confirmation of the score by the ref.. Alas no conversion. Score 31 - 20 after 76 minutes. Park secure a losing bonus point for their 4 trys.
126 - Ben wants more points and looks to support from Jakey and an energised Micky.
127 - The ball is slipped to Jakey.
128 - Matthew is not letting that ball go as Max looks on.
129 - Tom on a break as the match comes to an end a minute later. Shame about losing after taking such a good lead. Very welcoming club with lots of characters and a game played in good spirit.
