R&GP 1st XV v Letchworth GC - 7th Dec '13

002 - The teams
003 - The refereee for the day Chris Binnie (Yorks Soc. Ref)
004 - Pete O'Brien (4) makes the first move of the day
005 - Ross Inwood (15) gets off to a flying start
006 - Ross cuts between the Letchworth centres
007 - Turns on the gas as he heads over the half way line followed by Sam Coomber (11)
008 - Nice shoulders Sam
009 - Ross keeps the pace on and looks for support but it is struggling to keep up
010 - Letchworth's full back closes in
011 - and makes the tackle just short of the line
012 - but Ross still pops the ball up for the support but it flies into touch.
013 - at the lineout Mark Jackson (8) steals the Letchworth ball
014 - but Letchworth scramble it into touch as Park's 105 year old touch judge looks on.
015 - At the line out Pete takes great ball
016 - It is fed to the pack who set up a maul from which Matthew Worral-Clare (3) explodes and heads to the line.
017 - He evades the clutches of the Letchworth defence
018 - gets ready for the touch down
019 - launches for the line
020 - TRY. Great positioning ref.
021 - The Letchworth defence looks bemused as Micky James (2) and Paul Bradley (7) shout their approval.
022 - The knee in the back was not really necessary
023 - Yes.  I got the photo.  Smile!
024 - Ross takes the conversion
025 - its on its way
026 - but slides wide.  Park 5 - 0 Letchworth, 3 minutes played
027 - Penalty to Letchworth.  One of many
028 - The kicker sends it on its way but with no sucess.
029 - Matt Phillips (13) gets in a great tackle
030 - Another penalty to Letchworth. The kick is on its way
031 - it sails high
032 - is it wide?
033 - No say the touch judges whilst some of the players look bemused. Score Park 5 - 3 Letchworth, 9 minutes played.
034 - Fly half Bradley Norman (10) takes the restart
035 - Micky tries a bit of soccer.
036 - Sam (11) pressurises the wing over the try line to force a scrum
037 - Liam and JD look on.  Easy game this says JD.  I got a mention in the paper last week for the Luton match and wasn't even on the pitch.
038 - The Park scrum is dominant and Louis Stevens (9) feeds the back line
039 - Bradley sets up the attack
040 - Bradley tries a dummy scissors with Reese Parr (12)
041 - and slips the ball to Sam Coomber
042 - The Letchworth fly half is not deceived and makes the tackle.
043 - but Sam lays back the ball.
044 - Louis starts another attack,
045 - through Ricky Turner (1),
046 - who sets up an attacking maul.
047 - Louis is on the move again,
048 - passes to Pete,
049 - who passes to Alan jones (14),
050 - who in turn puts in an attacking kick down the line
051 - Pete is at it again.  This passing game is easy.
052 - Micky gets in on the act.
053 - Paul makes ground with intent supported by Ricky
054 - Paul makes ground to the halfway line
055 - tries to hurdle the wing forward's tackle
056 - but his trailing leg is grabbed to bring the move to an end,  Some whare in this sequence Letchworths No. 8 gets an unconverted try Score Park 5 - 8 Letchworth.
057 - Letchworth's scrum half sends it high from the back of a maul
058 - Ross finds a good touch
059 - Micky manages to off-load the ball despite a very high tackle.
060 - Paul gets some pace on the attack and lines up the full back.
061 - Paul is tackled but gets the ball to Charlie Wilkinson (6) who roars down the pitch.
062 - Charlie leaves flailing Letchworth players in his wake
063 - Charle heads for the line as the Letchworth winger chases hard
064 - The line is looming as the winger launches his tackle
065 -
066 - Charlie is brought down a couple of yards short
067 - just inches to go
068 -  Charlies long arm stretches out the extra distance for Park's second try of the day.
070 - Ross sends the conversion on its way.
071 - a miss says Park's centurion .  Score Park 10 - Letworth 8
072 - Rick takes it on up front
073 - As Sam Cook (5) looks on
074 - The Letchworth hoards crowd out Sam Coomber
075 - But he gets the ball to Micky,
076 - who brings Matthew into play.
077 - Bradley distributes the ball to the right,
078 - where Reese looks for a gap,
079 - is collared by the wing forward but slips the ball to Matt.
080 - who pops the ball up for Bradley,
081 - who is brought down held
082 - but
083 - who slips the ball inside to Alan who keeps the move flowing.
084 - The ball eventually finds its way to the left wing where Mark crashes over for Park's third try.
085 - Ross is in the sin-bin so Matt takes the kick.
086 - its on its way but he also has no sucess. Score Park 15 - 8 Letchworth
087 - Paul sets off another back row move
089 - Reese on the charge at the start of the second half.
090 - Matt sets up a ruck with Ricky in attendance
091 - The Letworth fly half, captain and coach weighs up his options
092 - He weaves through the Park defence
093 - Crosses the line
094 - and touches down close to the posts for a try which is converted. Score Park 15 - Letworth 15 and 6 minutes into the second half
095 - Park continue to dominate the scrum
096 - Mark at the front of the line out takes a great ball
097 - Park get the maul going
098 - Paul breaks out and charges for the line
099 - lan  looks to pass to Matt
100 - changes his mind
101 - and cuts back towards the posts
102 - under the watchful gaze of the referee. But no score
103 - Sam Cook rises high for clean ball
104 - the maul is set as the light fails
105 - the drive is on
106 - come on boys, heave
107 - Somewhere in there Pete breaks out
108 - and gets the touch down.  Unfortunately the conversion is unsucessful. Score Park 20 - Letchworth 15. 19 minutes of the second half played
109 - the moon shines clearly in the night sky as photography becomes very difficult.
110 - One for the artistic amongst you - Alan Jones going over the line
111 - Only to find the score was disallowed.  Letchworth went on to score three long range penalties in the last 20 minurtes and ran out winners with a score of Park 20 - 24 Letchworth.
112 - a couple of snug Phyllosans enjoy the game in the fading light
113 - along with more attractive spectators
