Romford were at home this morning in a triangular with Old Brentwood and Witham. Witham arrived short with not enough players but Romford and Old Brentwood stepped up and borrowed them a few boys.
First Match: RGP 6 – Witham 0
Try Scorers: Finlay McKeown, Ben Okonkwo(3), Kyian Jeffery, Daniel Bamford
This was the first game of the morning and Romford looked fired up straight out the blocks. They applied pressure from the first kick of the ball and it paid dividends, as it was too much for the visitors to handle. Romford managed 5 tries in the first half with Ben Okonkwo managing a hat trick with some strong running from the Romford backs and the forwards working hard, turning over play and hitting some big tackles. It was a good performance from the Romford boys a great win and moral booster.
Second Match: RGP 1 – Old Brentwood 1
Try Scorers: Ben Okonkwo
Old Brentwood was a harder game for Romford and the two teams were more evenly matched. Both teams were strong defensively, tackled well and worked hard in the breakdowns. Old Brentwood were first to cross the line due to a lapse of concentration from the Romford boys allowing a gap to open up and OB to take advantage of the space scoring the first and only try in the first half. The second half was pretty solid from both teams and it looked like Romford were going to lose this close fought match until Romford scored the final try in the last play. A good game to watch, another great morning of rugby.
