another great win on the Road.

Romford traveled to new and improved Barking rugby club for the second pre season of the season .

Romford looking at yet again some new recruits showed from the start there attacking intent but as like last week took a bit of time to imbed into the game .

A early number of penalties by Romford put them under unnecessary pressure and Barkings very strong pack got a nudge on and scored the first try of the game .

Romford come back with an immediate response how ever , an over throw at the lineout see Dwayne Lyn break up the field to find fellow back row Ian Semain who run the Barking backs and run in from 40 yards to score in the corner .

Romford persisted with some attacking rugby but it was yet again down to poor discipline that barking scored there second try of the game through a scrum .

The game being played over 3 x 30 minute period see both teams change the sides around and it was Romford next to score with a jinking and weaving run by the Romford full back counter attacking from a turn over ball running some 30 metres to find the returning Alfie law foot racing to the line from 40 out to score a great try and with the conversion hit ,the game with as tied .

Romford defence stood strong and worked hard to stop any scores from Barking .

The third and last period , Romford found there feet and started of the brighter , the fitness really started to show and Barking struggled with the tempo of the game and penalties started creeping in , one resulting to a kick to the corner where a catch and a quick lunge to the line see Pete Obrien score conversion nudged over .

The last try was probably the best of the game and really showed the hard work that’s been put in in pre season , a turnover ball by the back row of Romford two quick set ups and moved the ball to the backs the returning George robinson broke to feed new signing Harry walker that managed to get through a number of tackles and dart in to the line , with play starting back in our own 22 .

All in all a good performance but still plenty of work to put in as we prepare for the final pre season game against Welwyn next Saturday away .

Credit to Andrew Moreland and his team of coaches as it was great to see a club that has had its struggles really turn its game around and have a packed sideline and a big squad with new young and returning players.
