Romford v Basildon

On a foggy Sunday morning Romford hosted Basildon Rfc
Straight from the kick off it was apparent the opposition were here for a hard game with their forwards dominating the possession and transitioning to the backs very quickly putting Romford under immediate pressure but the Romford defence stood strong. Unfortunately after a period of sustained pressure the inevitable happened and Basildon scored but did not convert. After this Romfords discipline dropped and they gave away some soft penalties which gave Basildon the opportunity to run in two more tries both unconverted this took us up to half time 15-0 down, after a good half time talk Romford took to the pitch with new found determination and took the game to Basildon who were put on the back foot forcing handling errors and meant the game was played deep in the opposition half which resulted in a try scored on the right wing which was unconverted, the game carried on with Romford edging the possession and but for some good defensive work from Basildon the try count would have climbed.Romford were playing confidence and pushing hard for a score but we're unlucky when a rare error allowed Basildon to score another try again unconverted, this galvanised Romford who came straight back and turned the ball over passing the ball quickly through the backs resulting in a strong run by the winger to place the ball under the posts which was converted, the game carried on with both teams attacking and defending in equal measure until the final whistle. On this performance the return league match should be a corker,the boys played really well and just need to start games as they finish them. Well done boys
