Westcliff v Romford

Romford travelled to Westcliff Rfc for a much anticipated league game after Romford won in the final minutes of the fixture last season. The game started after a minutes silence, from the kick off it was clear westcliff were up for the game and pushed Romford back into their own half attacking at every opportunity, Romford defended strongly but the sustained pressure was too much and westcliff touched down in the corner but the conversion was missed. Romford attacked from the kick off and played a large part of the half in westcliffs half but unfortunately westcliff were able to score a breakaway try in the corner again with the conversion being missed again the first half ended Romford 10-0 down.the second half started with Romford more determined to score and some excellent play using both forwards and backs they were able to touch down between the posts with the conversion being scored 10-7 and Romford with the bit between their teeth, both teams attacked and defended in equal measure this started what could only be described as a very perplexing period of the game with some strange refereeing decisions players dump tackling which only constituted a warning with the same player committing the same offence minutes later which resulted in a yellow card for him and the Romford player leaving the pitch injured, and a Romford player being sent to the bin for using inappropriate language to the ref, the play carried on in the same style with several dubious decisions going against Romford but this just galvanised the team with no further points being scored.The boys can be proud of the way they played today, we just need to get the killer edge and impose ourselves on the game we have the talent boys let's use it well done
