the boys start where they left off.....

Romford 69 v 7 Bishop Stortford

Romford started the season in style hosting a very formidable Bishop Stortford outfit for the 1st time -
the game sbeing spread out over 3 x 25 mins sessions to ensure all players got lots of game time, with the line outs now in full flow Romford could put their pre-season practise into good effect.
From the off the large Stortford pack kept the ball close to them and trundled upfield but were constantly met by the brick wall of Parks defence. Romfords pack manage to turn the ball over on their 10mtr line and the ball found its way to the blind side wing where Seyi Ajeigbe outpaced the covering defence before side stepping the full back to open Romfords account ( conv Medaglia )
Romford then stepped up a gear and took the game to Stortford as no2 soon followed as the ball was fed through the backs for centre Tyler Ford to dart under the posts ( conv Medaglia ), from the restart Cameron Petrie caught the ball at pace inside his own half and beat several players before offloading to winger Lamar Douglas who in turn beat his opposite number before feeding back to the supporting Petrie who charged over the line for Romfords 3rd within the opening 15 minutes. the last 10 minutes of the session were all Romford as with the lineout and pack working to great effect enabled the backs to have a free run whenever they had the ball and this saw Ajeigbe to claim a quick fire brace and his hatrick using his outrageous pace down the wing ( conv Medaglia x 2 ) and end the 1st session an impressive 33-0 to the good.
The second session saw lots of changes from both sides but Romford kept up their intensity and the backs from inside their own half ran the ball going through Walters, Ford, Piercy before ending up in the arms of Dan Fox to dive over after 8 minutes of the restart
After more great work from the pack the ball went to Davison and his little chip over to winger Timi Osansumi who caught the ball at pace and ran over 3 covering defenders to claim Romfords 7th of the moning and end the 2nd session 43-0.
The 3rd and last session again saw changes to players and positions but Romford never let up their phyiscalility nad superb ball handing as Ajeigbe claimed his 4th of the morning again outpacing anyone that got near to him ( conv Medaglia ) Osansumi soon followed as he claimed his second and he ran through 3 defenders to crash over in the corner. not to be outshone by his team mates wingers Lamar Douglas got in on the act with another quick fire brace, his second sending several outrageous dummies before scoring both under the posts ( conv Medaglia x 2 ) credit to Stortford as they challenged throughout the game and never gave in and were rewarded for their efforts a few minutes from time as good handling between their forward saww their no 7 crash over under the posts

All in all an impressive performance from the entire squad for their 1st run out of the season.
