Romford run out of puff !!!!

Romford travelled to Southend for the 1st Round of the Essex Cup - travelling to probably the best team in the South East of England never daunted Romford and from the start matched Southend, it was Southend that drew first blood with their centre scoring 2 quick tries but Romford hit back when their pack won several penalties on Southends 5mtr line before Connor Madden was driven over the line underneath the posts ( comv Medaglia ) - for the next 15 minutes the ball mostly stayed in the middle of the park as neither team gave an inch - with 5 minutes left Southend moved the ball quickly through hands before scoring out wide to lead 15-7 - with time running out in the half Romford won a penatly on halfway and kicked to touch 5 mtrs out - from the rseulting lineout Romford won the ball and the pack drove forward towards the line and Captain Cameron Petrie dived over on the last play to touch down ( conv Medaglia ) and come with 1 piont at half time ( 14-15 )
The second half unfortunatley went Southends way - with changes so every boy got on and several injuries taking their toll Southend opened up the Romford defence time and time again to score at will and take the game away from Romford and ran out comfortable winners
The Boys can hold their heads up, the score did not match the effort the boys put into the very Physical match - even the Southend Coach commented on how close the game was and the score didnt reflect the game.

Scorers
Connor Madden
Cameron Petrie

Conv - Tom Medaglia
