Romford 59 -17 Upper Clapton
Romford hosted our friends of Upper Clapton on a cold sunny morning - with the visitors a couple of players short Romford lent them players until they arrived. Romford took the game to the visitors straight away and it wasn't long before the hosts scored through an error in the Clapton backline saw Medaglia scope up the loose ball to score near the posts - the second try of the morning saw winger Timi Osansumi outpace his opposite number to score in the corner after good work through the forwards released the backline. No 3 followed a few minutes later after the backs overturned the ball inside the Clapton half and centre Tyler Ford darted over, the 4th of the morning came halfway through the half as the forwards drove down field with some winning a scrum No 8 Cameron picked up from the base and drove over.try No 5 followed soon after as the Romford backs moved the ball well in the middle of the park and fed the flying winger Peter Adeoye to glide down the wing and score in the corner. The 6th try of the half came just after the restart as the ball not going 10 mtrs a scrum was taken back on half way and after some good interplay between backs and forwards let Connor Madden free to score under the posts.the last try of the half was score when prop Billy Davison ran through 4 would be tacklers to score in-opposed under the posts and round off a very one sided half -
The 2nd half saw Clapton back to full numbers of their own players and took the game to Romford using their big pack to great effect as the drove through the heart of the Romford defence and score a couple of well deserved tries - this seemed to wake Romford up as they went from 1st gear to 4th in a matter of minutes as winger Osansumi claimed a well deserved hatrick with 2 barmstorming runs down the wing after great handling in the backs set him free. His opposite winger Adeoye claimed his 2nd of the morning again as the forwards won clean quick ball and the backline fed him to score in the corner - the last try of the morning again from Davison as a lineout went to the back 5 mtrs out and he bulldozed over carrying 2 defenders with him
A good performance at times considering the recent results and great to see a smile and good sportsmanship between 2 friendly teams
