Great Finish to the Season

Essex Cup Plate Final

Romford 52 - 6 Chingford

Romford travelled to Chingford for the U16s Essex Cup Plate Final - having not played the oppo in a few years we didn't know what to expect - on a hard pitch Romford would use their pace and fitness to good effect - Ford opened the scoring in the 1st couple of minutes scooting down the touch line to dive over in the corner ( conv Medaglia ), the 2nd soon followed after good work from the forwards saw Petrie end up just yards from the line before offloading out the back of his hands to the on coming Fahy to dive over and touch the ball down on the line underneath the posts ( conv Medaglia ) - Chingford then scored a long ranch penalty to reduce the lead to 14-3 before winger Adeoye took the ball inside his own half and outpaced their entire covering defence to score under the posts for Romfords 3rd ( conv Medaglia ) - No 4 came from both backs and forwards linking together to send Cpt Petrie over in the corner ( conv Medaglia ) - Chingford then scored another Penatly to bring the scores to 28-6 and with the last play of the half Romford moved the ball from deep inside their own half through the backs for the marauding winger Piercy to run through the opposition to dive over ( conv Medaglia ) and end a very entertaining half of running rugby from Romford. - 35-6
The second half started in the same vain as the 1st ended with Romford in control and running the ball at ease - from a knock on by Chingford inside Romfords half the ball was sent down the line to Centre Ajeigbe to sprint past anybody that tried getting close and score underneath the posts ( conv missed ) The game then started to become a scrappy affair with tempers flaring up and saw the game start / stop on a regular basis - when Romford switched back on and had ball in hand they was unplayable as Ford claimed his 2nd of the match running through a tiring defence ( conv Fox ) The last and Final try of the game and Season came from Piercy after the forwards made their way upfield with some superb handling at pace and Piecry dived over in the corner for the last score of the game.
