Romford travelled down the road to local neighbours Brentwood for the 2nd round of the Essex Cup
Romford kicked off down the slope and soon made inroads into the Brentwood half and after 3 successful rucks Billy Davison drove over in the corner to open the scoring ( conv - Horsman ) , No 2 soon followed as again Romfords swift play soon found themselves back in the Brentwood 22 before scrum half Dan Fox darted over from the back of a ruck to score under the posts ( conv Horsman ), before anyone could catch their breath Romford soon had their 3rd score on the board within the opening 10 minutes as |Connor Madden took a ball at pace and crashed through 4 defenders to dive over ( conv Horsman ), the next 5 or so minutes Brentwood worked their way back up field and made Romford work to keep their lead, from a line out inside Romfords half Milne won the lineout and the ball was fed down the line through the backs until it reached winger Seyi Adeigbe who outpaced and ran over anyone in his way to score under the posts ( conv Horsman ), with time running out in the 1st half and Romford being camped in the home sides half for much of the game it wasn't long before they added another when full back Luca Valentini let defenders in his wake before feeding winger Alex Walters to glide past his opposite number and add No5 ( conv Horman ).
The second half started with Romford playing up the slope but with the same skill and intensity drove the Brentwood pack back at pace and wasn't long before No8 Davison popped up on the wing to juggle the ball before scoring in the corner to lead 40-0 just after the break. From the restart Romford slacked a little and after failing to release the ball Brentwood moved the ball through their back line to score in the corner. This really upset Romford and they were determined to take their frustration out further on Brentwood, after the pack again won excellent ball the backs set off to run the home defence ragged and this time Walters was on the end of another good move being fed by Valentini to score in the corner (conv Horsman ) to lead 47-5. The 8th try of the morning was a carbon copy of the last as the forwards made inroads into the Brentwood half before releasing the backs for fullback Valentini to score a deserved try ( conv Horsman ).Romford never let up with the intensity of playing awesome rugby and it wasn't long before Timi Osansumi brushed off 4 defenders to score in the opposite corner for Romfords 9th to lead 59-5 with a few minutes to go - Having never let up all game Romford then threw everything at Brentwood to score that elusive 10th try and it came the way of Cpt Cameron Petrie and taking the ball just inside the Brentwood half just brushed off anyone that got in his way and putting a few players on the floor scored a very well deserved try ( conv Horsman ) to wrap up a very very Impressive TEAM performance.
