Romford 38 v 12 Chelmsford

Romford hosted Chelmsford in the 3rd League game of the season, having already played the oppo in the cup earlier in the season and won comfortably the boys knew Chelmsford would be a different side this time around, for the first few minutes Chelmsford took the game to the hosts using the big pack to good effect, as soon as Romford were able to get their hands on the ball it wasnt long before the backs produced some free flowing rugby to set winger Lamar Douglas off from inside his own half to beat 3 defenders to score, the 2nd soon followed after the forwards moved the ball through hands for the backs to use the space provided and for centre Owen Dew to crash over from a few yards out. Chelmsford then from the kick off that wasnt cleanly taken drove at the heart of the Romford defence and after several drives near the line they forced their way over and back into the game , as the half was nearing the end Romford had a penalty inside their own 22 and instead of playing safe they decided to run the ball from deep and after going through the backs hands Douglas again got hold of the ball and this time ran even further, over and round anyone that got near him to score under the posts ( conv Horsman ) and extend the Home sides lead to 17-5 at half time.
The 2nd half saw Romford playing with the wind and took the game to Chelmsford and played free flowing Rugby at its best - after Chelmsford gave away several penalties near their line up popped Prop Charlie Rawlings in the back line to take the ball at pace and crash over under the posts ( conv Horsman ) to extend the lead further - from the restart and again Romford failing to claim the high ball and knock on Chelmsford worked down field again with their forwards to bulldoze over the line ( conv ) to get a foot hold back in the game - this lapse woke up Romford and after Romford stole a Chelmsford scrum the ball was quickly moved down the backline where centre Henry Attridge glided through for Romfords 5th try of the morning ( conv Horsman ) - with the minutes ticking away and Chelmsford clearing their line Full Back Seyi Ajeigbe collected the ball inside his own half and outpaced the entire covering opposition defence to glide down the wing and then score under the posts ( conv Horsman ) to wrap up and great TEAM performance.
