Romford 32 v 5 Westcliff

Romford hosted Westcliff in a hastily arranged friendly , with both sides missing players for various reasons it enabled both squads to be used to maximum effect. from the off both sides tried to run the ball as much as possible but it was Romford who drew first blood when the ball was fed through the backs and full back Seyi Ajeigbe latched onto the ball inside his own half to side step the Westcliff defence to score under the posts ( conv Ajeigbe ), Romfords 2nd followed 5 minutes later as the forwards won several penalties and drove upfield before Billy Davison took a short pass at pace and off loaded to the supporting Connor Madden to dive over with 2 defenders hanging off him. with neither side giving an inch and with lots of ferocious tackling being made the next 10 minutes was centred in the middle of the park, with the 1st half heading towards the whistle Romford put pressure on Westcliff and forced a scrum 5 mtrs out where No 8 Billy Davison picked up from the base to brush aside the defenders for Romfords 3rd of the morning and go to the break 17-0 to the good .
The 2nd half started with Westcliff coming back at Romford and it wasnt long before the pressure told and for them to open their account for the morning, this galvanised Romford who immediately took the game back to Westcliff and after more good work from the forwards moved the ball down the backline for winger Tyler Ford to get on the end of a great move to score in the corner to lead 22-5., with both sides still willing to run the ball from wherever they could the game flowed from end to end and only some great tackling prevented either side scoring for the next 15 minutes, Romfords 5th of the morning again came from their lightning winger Ajeigbe and once again took the ball from inside his own half and beat 4 players to score under the posts for his second of the morning, with time nearly up one last surge from Romfords pack drove them downfield and some great handling between them saw Callum Fahy end up with the ball and just mtrs from the line crashed over in the corner for Romford 6th and last try of the morning.
Having suffered a couple of nasty injuries we hope to see Connor & Tom back on the field as soon as possible
