Romford 57 v 22 Eton Manor

Romford hosted neighbours Eton Manor in the hastily arrange friendly on Valentines Day - with both teams short of numbers due to half term it was agreed to be 14 a side - from the off Romford played some great attacking rugby and this soon paid dividends as the forwards drove upfield to feed winger Lamar Douglas to open the scoring ( conv Adeigbe ), No 2 soon followed as a scrum on the 5 mts line was picked up at the base of the scrum by Billy Davison and ran in unopposed - before anyone could catch their breath No3 was on the board as the ball was moved well through the backs for centre Tyler Ford to dart in under the posts and take a commanding 19-0 lead ( conv Douglas ) - The home side were then guilty of falling asleep as they let Manor back into the game with 2 quick tries after forgetting how to tackle their rampaging flanker, this woke Romford up a bit as they were the next to score again after good forward work saw Cameron Petrie dive over near the posts 5 minutes before half time and extend their lead to 26-12 ( conv Fox ), and with the last play of the half saw Romford streak into a commanding lead as Douglas claimed his 2nd of the morning in the corner
Half time 31-12
The 2nd half saw Romford playing into a stiff wind and unfortunately with Manor having a couple of injuries the scrums became uncontested for the remainder of the game - the game became a very scrappy affair with lots of handling errors and some aimless running - again Manor used their powerful runners to claim another couple of tries to narrow the deficit 31-22 - this was just the kick that Romford needed and with their own fast powerful runners took the game finally away from Manor as full back Seyi Adeigbe claimed a braced with both coming from attacks from inside their own half ( conv Fox x 2 ) and lead 45-22
next up to score was Douglas claiming a well deserved hat trick as he picked up a loose ball from a ruck on the half way line and ran down the blind side touchline to score and with the last play of the day opposite winger Timi Osansumi got in on the act as he was on the end of a good move through the backs to race down the line and brush past any would be tacklers to score near the posts and give Fox an easy conversion - all in all it was a good run out for the boys but plenty of work needed for the coming weeks
