Great all round Performance

Romford 40 v 12 Upminster

Romford played hosts to neighbours Upminster in the Mothers Day Friendly - with some of the boys knowing each other from school it was sure to be a fiercely played game - so it proved to be with no quarter given, it was Upminster that started the stronger with their enormous pack driving well but Romford repelled anything that was thrown at them, after an initial barrage from Upminster Romford slowly got into the game and used their fast paced style of Rugby to good effect, the 1st try of the morning came from a quickly taken penalty with Cameron Petrie diving over near the posts ( conv ) - the hosts then moved up a gear and started to move the ball around the park as much as they could and try No 2 followed with some great interaction between forwards and backs for |Joseph Piercy to crash through the would be tacklers to score, from the restart Romford failed to take the ball cleanly and with Upminster driving off their scrum barraged through the home defence to open their account ( conv ) and go into half time with the hosts only 12-7 to the good
The second half started with the wind behind Romford and it wasnt long before Romford claimed their 3rd try of the morning when Piercy claimed his second using his power and pace to storm through ( conv ) - with their heads up Romford threw caution to the wind and started moving the ball at will and try No 4 soon followed when Upminster tried to clear their lines but the kick fell into the hands of winger Alex Walters to jink his way through the defence to score under the posts ( conv ), with the big Upminster side starting to tire the Romford backs were soon back inside their opponents half and this time full back Tyler Ford darted through the wouldbe tacklers to score Romfords 5th of the morning ( conv ) - fair credit to Upminster as they never gave up and claimed a 2nd deserved try with some good forward work but Romford had the last laugh when another quickly taken penalty saw Petrie pop the ball to Connor Madden at pace as he ran through unopposed to score Romfords 6th and final try of the morning ( conv ) to wrap up a good team Performance
