It was a wet and miserable start to the day and the U15s made the trip over the river to Old Dartfordians. It didn't get much brighter either as Romford encountered a strong team. They managed to put four tries and three conversions past the Romford line in the first half but although Dartfordians were a strong side Romford should take heart from their performance as they kept plugging away. They were rewarded, and as the first period drew to a close Michael Courtney found some space and cut a superb line through the centre of the pitch to score a fine individual try for Romford.
HT: Old Dartfordians 24-5 RGP
The second half continued in much the same way, with injuries mounting Romford tried hard to break Old Dartfordians down, the opposition managed to score six tries and two conversions in this period but to Romford’s credit they still did not give up. As the game was nearing it’s end Luke Metcalf broke Darfordians line and touched down under the posts to score a great try that Sam Slatford converted. Romford were finally enjoying some possession and nearly scored again just before the final whistle but came up short. A tough day but the U15s should be proud that they carried on battling and never gave up. Well done boys!
