Chingford U15s vs Romford U15s

Chingford U15s welcomed Romford on a grey February morning for their latest league fixture and Romford, who were ready from an excellent team performance the week before, were up to the task.

The first half started brightly and Romford were clearly in control, it wasn’t long before an excellent tackle from Lewis Potter and a strong carry from Jude Rawana sent Luke Metcalf down the wing for Romford’s only score of the day which was easily converted by Sam Slatford. Romford were working really hard, tackling well, attacking the Chingford ruck and absorbing pressure but a number of poor refereeing decisions would cost Romford the tie. The first was an obvious knock on from a Chingford player that allowed Chingford to touch down in the corner for their equalizing try of the half.

HT: Chingford 7-7 RGP

It would be easy to focus on two of the many refereeing errors that resulted in Chingford’s two further trys in this half but it would be better to mention the excellent rugby that all the boys played today and remind them that usually fair play and hard work during a game will reward them with the result they deserve. The scrum was particularly strong today, the forwards worked hard to gain control of the ball and the team competed strongly as a unit. Unfortunately the result did not go our way but with a different referee we would surely be celebrating a win this evening.
