Tough day at Billericay

The U15s visited Billericay today for a late kick off at 1pm, the extra few hours in bed were wonderful but the match was just as tough as recent games!

All of Billericay’s trys were in the first half and Romford’s characteristic slow start meant the home team were 10-0 up within the first ten minutes of the match with their particularly strong No. 8 imposing himself on the Romford U15s. Romford were competing but this was a very physical Billericay side that was quicker to the tackle and stronger in the ruck in this first period of play. Romford did rally and managed to contain Billericay for periods of the first half but eventually Billericay broke through to score the third and final try of the game on the stroke of half time, which they duly converted.

The second half was a much more even game, Romford fought hard to gain control and spent long periods of time in Billericay’s half. They defended superbly and attacked where they could. Unfortunately today the scores didn’t come which was frustrating as the boys were clearly working hard. Although they couldn’t make the break through and score a try of their own they should be commended for stopping Billericay scoring further and keeping a clean sheet in the second period of the game. Better luck next time boys!
