RGP U15s vs Eton Manor U15s

Romford welcomed Eton Manor to Crow Lane on Sunday morning and the blue sky was a refreshing change despite it being windy.

A tough task awaited Romford but the boys made a brisk start and although Romford conceded two trys in the first 10 minutes of the half, Romford were not laying down and were scrapping for every piece of possession. Romford began to put pressure on the Eton Manor boys and began working their way up the pitch, eventually the pressure told and the resulting penalty enabled a good passing move to the corner for Michael Courtney to dance through and touch down for Romford’s first try of the game. Eton Manor did manage to score again but Romford were not to be deterred. They were again working their way steadily up the field, some ferocious tackling and hard rucking saw them keep possession and eventually gain a line out in Eton Manor’s 22. The result was a slick passing move across the field and James Mimms burying himself under the Eton Manor boys for Romford’s second try of the game.

HT: RGP 10-15 Eton Manor

A rejuvenated Eton Manor side started the second half brightly and they managed to score three trys in quick succession but Romford were not prepared to lay down and pressed hard to get back into the game. A resulting scrum deep in Eton Manors’s 22 led to a fabulous try from Billy Lloyd as he pushed his way through the Eton Manor defenders to touch down. Eton Manor quickly responded with another try but Romford were still pressing and when Luke Metcalf stole the ball deep in Eton Manor’s half Romford managed a fourth try which was converted by Sam Slatford. Eton Manor did manage one more score but Romford finished strongly and this game was far more evenly matched than the score showed. A fabulous game to watch. Better luck next time boys!
