Romford to Powerful for Local Neighbours

Romford 68 v 17 Dagenham

Romford's first home game of the season was against local neighbours Dagenham
With the game being played in 4 quarters it game the large Romford squad enough game time for all the boys to play their part

Dagenham kicked off and Romford took the ball straight back at them, after several good phases from the forwards the back was released down the back line and Full back Seyi Ajeigbe raced onto the ball to outpace the Dagenham defence to open the scoring ( Conv Horsman ), Romford roared straight back at Dagenham and Winger Richard Abvunudje touched down under the posts for No2 ( conv Horsman ) - a very physical battle took hold in midfield with both sides putting in some big hits, from a knock-on by Dagemham Romford had a scrum 10 metres out and No 8 picked up at the back of the scrum and side stepped 2 defenders before offloading to Cameron Petrie to score under the posts just before the whistle ( conv Horsman )
The second period started with lots of changes but the Lightening Bolt Lamar Douglas rounded off a great move by scoring Romford's 4th ( conv Horsman ) - Dagenham then made inroads into the Romford Half and after a couple of missed tackles the winger scored in the corner to open their account - Romford not to be outdone made their way upfield with some good quick rucking and mauling and Douglas got on the end of another good move to score his second and Romford's 5th just before the break to go into half time 33-5 up

The third period again with many changes saw Romford playing into the wind and this gave Dagenham renewed hope and they pushed forward at every opportunity, from a scrum inside Romfords half Dagenham used their powerful centre to brush aside a few tackles to score under the posts, from the resullting re-start Dagenham failed to claim the ball and winger Seyi Ajeigbe pounced on the lose ball and ran in unopposed from 40 metres for his second ( conv Horsman ) - Dagenham to the credit never gave up and got on the scoreboard again through their big centre fed their winger to score
The fourth and final quarter saw Romford play superb rugby as they did in the first - with the forwards on the front foot this enabled the backs to run at will - the first try was scored from the impressive No8 Billy Davsion and crashing through a minefield of players ( conv Horsman ) - the 8th try was great support play , after Horsman jinked past a couple of players on half way he fed the supporting Douglas to sprint past and claim a well deserved Hat-trick ( conv Horsman ) the last 2 tries of the day were both scored by the powerful winger Richard Avbunudje as he burst through from deep to score both under the posts ( conv Horsman ) and also claim his Hat-tirck on debit for the Team

After a few tough weeks it was good for all the boys to get back to playing free flowing Rugby
