Cheshunt run ragged by Rampant Romford

Cheshunt 0 v 96 Romford

Romford travelled around the M25 to Cheshunt with their usual army of players

With the game being split into 4 x 15 minute quarters it gave enough time for the whole squad to have a useful run out

Straight from the start it was evident that Romford would run the ball at every conceivable opportunity, from the very first driving maul Romofrd spun the ball through the backs for full back Seyi Ajeigbe to power down the touch line to open what was going to be the Floodgates - the second try soon followed after some great handling from forwards and backs alike to falnker Tom Robinson to score in the corner, No 3 was scored by the Lightning bolt Lamar Douglas has he outpaced his opposite centre to score under the posts and with Romford in control soon followed with No4 as the forwards worked their way back down field for Billy Davison to power through to score under the posts to end the 1st quarter 22-0 to the good
The 2nd quarter started with Romford playing up the slope but they started where they left off - they were soon moving the scoreboard along when Davison made inroads into the Cheshunt 22 before offloading to the supporting Aaron Stevens to dive off with a couple hanging off him for No5 - No6 & 7 where both scored by centre Owen Dew in similar fashion as the backs moved the ball at will and he danced around the opposition to score both under the posts. With Cheshunt to their credit never giving up and trying to spoil Romfords party up popped Prop Connor Madden in the backs to run over 3 defenders from inside his own half and score a well deserved try and Romfords 8th,the last score of the quarter was from the flying winger Alex Walters as the ball went through the hands of the backs and for Walters to cut inside and again touch down under the posts to end it 53-0 up.

The 3rd quarter was a carbon copy of the previous two as Romford never let their foot off the gas and Davison was soon on hand to claim his second and Romford's 10th of the game, No 11 soon followed when the powerful Richard Avbunudge ran through 4 defenders to open hos account for the day and the last try of the quarter went to Dew for his hat-trick again after the forwards secured good clean ball to the backs to run riot ,72-0
The last and final quarter again saw a few changes to personnel but Romford kept up the intensity and Douglas added a quick fire brace out wide to claim a well deserved hat-tick and take Romford try tally to 14 with 8 minutes remaining- Second row Joseph Piercy claimed his first try for the club after taking the ball on the half way line and out pacing the Cheshunt back line for No15 - with the last play now being called Romford again set off upfield for one last foray and it ended as it originally started with Seyi Adiegbe touching down to end what was a very comprehensive rout and with teh conversion ended the game 96-0 ( not sure if this is a Romford record )
What was pleasing is although at times a bit one sided the boys continued to play '' Rugby '' throughout the day
