Romford hosted Stanford in the 2nd Round of the Essex Cup on a cold, wet, muddy miserable morning, having come off the back of a perfect performance last week it was important that Romford kept up their intensity throughout this tricky encounter, the 1st score of the day came through the centre Lamar Douglas bursting through the midfield from half way to score under the posts ( conv Horsman ), this was soon followed by a quick second after the forwards won quick ball and set off the backs for the ball to reach the wing and Tyler Ford to score in the corner , with their tails up Romford went straight back on the attack and their forwards drove within 5 metres of the line and up popped Prop Charlie Rawlings to bulldoze over for No3 ( conv Horsman ) - Stanford then enjoyed a few minutes of possession and worked their way into the corner and their scrum half darted over in the corner to open their account, this seemed to wake Romford up again and moved the ball again through the back for Full Back Seyi Ajeigbe to glide past the Stanford back line and score Romford's 4th - with the rain coming down even harder now Romfords forwards tucked the ball up their tops and stormed upfield to inside the Stanford 22 and secured good ball for Dax Fox for fed winger Richard Avbunudje to power down the touch line leaving defenders in his wake to score under the posts with the last play of the half ( conv Horsman ).

The second half started as the 1st ended with Romford trying to move the ball at every opportunity and with the pitch now looking like a swamp it was very difficult to play any decent free flowing Rugby, this never hindered Romford as the backs were set off again and Douglas scored his second under the posts ( conv Horsman ) after out pacing his opposite number, Stanford never gave up trying and using their big forwards took a quick penalty and their No8 scored in the corner with 2 defenders hanging off him
Romford then decided enough was enough and again worked their way down field and into the corner before Stanford conceded a penalty 10 metres out, from the resulting quick tap Owen Dew crashed over for try No 7th - From the resulting re-start Romford went into the Stanford half once more and the ball again was fed out for Douglas to claim a well desereved hat-trick ( conv Horsman ) and wrap up another impressive performance in conditions that were better suited for mud wrestling
