Romford 31 v 10 Thurrock

Romford hosted Thurrock in a friendly at the Fortress - with many boys missing due to county training it was the perfect time for the entire squad to get some game time. Romford kicked off on a blustery day and with Thurrock failing to secure the ball Romford won the loose ball and straight away set the backs off with the ball moving down the wing for Lamar Douglas to open the scoring, Douglas soon added another a couple of minutes later when he outpaced his opposite number from inside his own half to score under the posts ( conv Horsman ) - Thurrock used their big physical forwards to get back in the game and move upfield and after Romford failed to clear their lines Thurrock pounced on the loose ball to score in the corner. the rest of the half was played out in the middle of the pitch with both sides failing to add to their score before half time ( 12-5 )
The second half started with Romford playing with the wind behind - unfortunately straight from the kicked off Romford failed to hold onto the ball and Thurrock re-claimed it and scored in the corner - this was certainly the wake up call Romford needed and they set about moving back up the field and after the forwards secured good ball it was worked down the line for Max Mclellan to touched down in the corner, now with their tails up Romford never let up with their intensity and with Thurrock not holding onto their ball inside their 22 Rain Horsman chipped the ball through and pounced on it over the line for Romford's 4th ( conv Horsman ) - with Romford now playing all the Rugby in monsoon like conditions the backs were again making progress and winger Alex Walters ran from half way to score under the posts ( conv Horsman ) to wrap up another great win against a very Physical big Thurrock unit
