Romford hosted Aylesford from kent in this friendly on a freezing cold Sunday morning, with quite a few boys missing through County Training it gave the rest of the squad a perfect workout against a large physical opposition - as per what seems the norm the boys were asleep for the 1st 10 minutes of the game and let the opposition run in 2 un-answered tries and fly off into a 12-0 lead, this seemed to be the perfect tonic for Romford and they took the bull by the horns and from an amazing driving maul on the Alyesford 22 the pack gathered pace and drove scrum half Tom Medaglia over to open the Romford account ( conv Horsman ) , from then Romford seemed to have the ascendancy and from another driving maul up popped Callum Fahy to touch down and level up the scores - both sides seemed intent on running the ball in very difficult condition which was great to see but their was no further score in the half .

The second half started with Romford playing into a very stiff wind but it wasnt long before they got on the score sheet again as the forwards worked well in securing a penalty inside the Alyseford half and after being quickly taken through the backs good work from Ford and Attridge made space for winger Alex Walters to score in the corner and take a deserved lead ( conv Horsman ) - the opposition hit straight back with their powerful centres making inroads into the Romford half and scoring in the corner and the conversion leveling up this tight game once again - not to be undone by this Romford kept the ball tight in their forwards and after a couple of pick and goes worked their way into the opposition 22 before winning a penalty and after Joseph Piercy crashed through to regain the lead with 10 minutes to go - again Alyesford played to their strengths and used their big powerful centre to good effect and used his pace to out run the covering Romford defence to score under the posts and the conversion scored to gain a 2 point lead - Romford then threw everything at them but were unable to break down the defence and Alyesford held on to claim a good win.
