Romford 55 v 7 Stanford

Romford hosted Stanford in a friendly on a nice bright clear morning - with the boys that hadnt played the orevious week starting this week it was the perfect way to ensure all the squad got game time. straight from Stanford kicking off Romford ran the ball back at them and it wasnt long before the home side got on the score sheet after the forwards secured the ball the ball went through all the backs to Winger Max Mclellan to score in the corner after 5 mins, this set the tone for the day with Romford trying to run from all over the park , the second try of the day followed not long after with centre Lamar Douglas rounding the entire Stanford back line to open his account for the day, Douglad soon followed up with his second of the day and Romfords third after good work from Roberts offloaded the ball at pace to the Rampant Douglas to score, it seemed one way traffic with Romford constantly attacking but credit to Stanford as they continued to put in some great tackles, towards the end of the 1st half and with the home side winning a scrum on Stanfords 22mtr line No 8 Billy Davison took off from the base of the scrum and with 3 defneders hanging off him threw an outrageous pass out the back of he hand to scrum half Tom Medaglia to dart over under the posts for the 4th try of the morning ( conv Douglas ) .
The second half started with many changes in the Romford team but the pattern of play stayed the same - Stanford tried to clear their line but the ball fell loose on the half way line and Full back Seyi Ajeigbe picked it up and strolled through the Stanford defence to score in the corner ( Conv Horsman ) - No 6 soon followed after more good work through the forwards set up Second Row Dominic Chaplin to take the ball from just inside the Stanford half and outpace the away defence to score under the posts ( Conv Hosman ) - Douglas claimed a well deserved hattrick soon after from a quickly taken penalty went down the line for him to score in the corner, Stanford to the credit continued to put in some great tackles and got a deserved try when the ball went through hands in the backs out to their winger for him o fend off 3 tacklers and score under the posts ( conv scored ) from this setback Romford stormed upfield again and Ajeigbe got on the end of another great move for the home sides 8th try of the morning ( conv by Ajeigbe ) - the last play of the day ended with another try for Douglas as again the ball was worked through the forwards and then into the backs for him to glide past the tiring defence to score Romfords 9th and last try of the day ( conv Hosman ) and wrap up another comprehensive display
