Romford too Hot for Hertford

Romford 47 - 10 Hertford

Romford hosted Hertford on a very blustery Sunday morning, Romford having boys away on County Training duties gave the opportunity for the rest of the squad to play a full game and gain valuable match time
Romford used the wind to their advantage in the 1st half and opened the scoring with the 1st play of the day - straight from the kick off Hertford failed to secure the ball and the Romford forwards drove through the retreating Hertford defence and let the backs loose for winger Alex Walters to score in the corner, this was soon followed by No 2 as more good handling in difficult conditions by the backs let full back Tyler Ford to glide through and score - the forwards soon got in on the act after some good driving mauls let Joseph Piercy charged through four would be defenders to score under the posts ( conv Horsman ) - with Romford playing some great free flowing Rugby No4 soon followed after Hertfrd tried to clear their lines kicked downfield to the half way line where Ford collected the loose ball and stormed back unopposed to score Romfords 5th in the corner- the last try of the half was scored with Romford winning the ball against the head in the scrum and No8 Chaplin set off down the touch line and feed scrum half Tom Medaglia to dive over in the corner and end a pretty comprehensive half of Rugby -

The second half started with Romford playing into the fierce wind but fell asleep for the opening 10 minutes and allowed Hertford back into the game and scored 2 well deserved tries to reduce their deficit - this seemed to wake home the home team from their slumber and then went back on the attack through their forwards working their way upfield before Lamar Douglas outpaced the Hertford backline for No7 - No 8 soon followed after Seyi Adeigbe collected the ball on the half way line and jinked his way through the Hertford defence and outpace the covering players to score another.
The last play of the game saw Romford score their 9th and final try of the day with some great inter play between forwards and backs to keep the ball alive and Che James popped up 5 metres out to barge his way over the line to wrap up another great win
