Romford travelled to Wanstead with a bare 15 players for their last friendly of the season - up against the biggest side imaginable Romford decided to try and run the opponents ragged - from the start Wanstead failed to clear the ball and Romfords forwards drove upfield for the backs to send centre Tyler Ford clear under the posts ( conv Dew ) the second soon followed with more good work through the forwards enabled flanker Joseph Piercy to dive over, with Romford in control the ball was worked well through the hands of the backs for Ford to scamper through for his second and third and Romfords 4th &5th half way through the 1st half ( conv Dew ) - Wanstead worked their way upfield with their enormous pack and their No10 chipped over the oncoming defence and reclaimed his own kick to score under the posts to reduce the deficit. This never phased Romford and they went straight back on the attack through their smaller quicker pack and up popped prop Charlie Rawlings to crash over to claim Romfords 5th try of the morning - the last try of the half came from a Wanstead line out on the own 10 mtr line only for Romford to steal the ball and pop to the charging Piercy to crash through 5 would be defenders to score under the posts ( conv Dew ) and end the half 36-7 in front - the second half was a very scrappy affair with most of the play centred in the middle of the park as both sides failed to hold onto the ball which resulted in many scrums - Wanstead claimed a try back after their powerful pack set off their bog centre to crash through a few covering defenders to score under the posts - the last try of the day was scored by Romford as their mobile pack drove Wanstead one way then let the ball go the opposite for the backs to move the ball with great effect and winger Alex Walters touch down in the corner
