Romford's first home game of the season was a tough test

Romford’s first home game of the season was a tough test and the result was not what they deserved but one that Romford worked hard for and can take a lot of positives from at the beginning of the season.

Although Wanstead put 3 try’s past Romford in the first half, it was not a one sided event and the team worked hard against a strong Wanstead pack that were determined to use their forwards’ strength to score.

The second half though was a much more even sided event. An early try from Wanstead put them on the score sheet once again but Romford’s pack worked hard to win back the ball in the rucks and slowly but surely Romford moved up the field until a divisive run from Ade Olaleye from a well earned penalty gave Romford their first 5 points. Sure enough this gave Romford the strength to grab another 5 points shortly afterwards when a well-worked overlap from Rokas Steiblys put Luke Metcalf through for another try. Although Wanstead finished the game scoring again shortly before full time, Romford did not make it easy for the visitors and should take pride in the test that they gave them.
