Good effort but defeat for Sharks

Romford Under 14's welcomed rivals Wanstead RFC to Crow Lane

The Sharks started the game in a positive manner and were rewarded after four minutes when full back Harry Wright picked up the ball in his own half after a punt downfield and made a great run avoiding several challenges to open the scoring. Brandan Farrant converted and Romford led 7-0

The visitors then came into the game and were rewarded with two converted tries in the space of five minutes to take the lead 14-7

Romford came back into the game after 20 minutes when good work from the forwards saw captain Louis Ridley barge his way through the defence for a good try

Right on half time Wanstead scored again and they led 19-12 at the break

Into the second half and a good spell of pressure from the Sharks saw them awarded a penalty and second row Ronnie Brooks took a quick tap, dodged a couple of challenges and scored to reduce the deficit to 19-17

Sadly that was Romfords last score of the morning as the game became heated and effected the Sharks more than their opponents who ran in a further three tries, one converted to win the game 36-17
