Basildon 22 Romford 27
Romford under 14’s travelled to Basildon for their latest game on Sunday
The home team made a strong start and dominated the play, with some good passing and strong scrums
They took the lead in the 7th minute with a try and then scored three further tries, one converted, to lead 22=0 at half time.
The Sharks needed a strong start to the second half and they got it when Harrison Sykes passed to wing Robson Burke and he ran through to touchdown.
Try number two for Romford came a few minutes after when a good move was finished off in excellent style by fly half Brandan Farrant
Romford were defending deep in their own half when Louis Ridley punted the ball downfield towards the Basildon full back who couldn’t control the ball and it was chased down by Sharks full back Harry Wright who collected the ball and ran under the posts to score. Farrant converted and The Sharks had reduced the deficit to 22-17
A minute later and Romford number 8 Ronnie Brooks picked the ball up in his own half and beat a number of challenges to run through and crash over the try-line to level the scores at 22-22
The home team were shattered physically and The Sharks had the momentum so it was no surprise when Farrant scored another good try to complete a great comeback and see Romford win the game by 27-22
