Under 14's put in great performance to win with 13 players

Romford Under 14's welcomed Epping Upper Clapton RFC to Crow Lane for a "League" friendly

The Sharks had a few absentees and started the game with only 13 players but they immediately took the game to their opponents from the kick off and when the ball was passed to full back Harry Wright, he raced the the Clapton defence to open the scoring within the first minute.

Fly Half Brandan Farrant successfully converted the try.

Romford didn't let up and again when they won the ball, it was passed to Wright who ran through for his second of the morning with less than three minutes on the clock.

Farrant again converted and the Sharks were 14-0 ahead after just four minutes.

The visitors came into the game a bit more and were rewarded when one of their backs sped down the left wing to score, which was also converted to reduce Romfords lead to 14-7

Upper Clapton were next over the tryline after a good spell of play and the score was now 14-12

The Sharks regrouped and again took control with some strong tackling and powerful running from midfield

It was right on half time when a great team move was finished off by Flanker Harrison Sykes who powered over the line to increase
Romfords lead at half time to 19-12

Into the second half and the Sharks despite having two players less than their opponents remained the stronger team and inside centre Sam Brindle was next on the scoresheet bursting through and driving over the line in typical fashion.

The away team did have another good spell of pressure and scored two tries in the space of five minutes, but this was Romfords day and when they were awarded a penalty near their opponents try line it was tapped and passed along the line until scrum half Toby McCloud dived over to score a good try and seal a fantastic win for the Sharks by 29-22

Man of the Match: The Whole Team were heroic and performed at such a high level, also taking into consideration they were two players down on their opponents and it was also a very hot morning.

Team: Harry McVelia, Adam Courtney, Cameron Taylor, Ronnie Brooks (c), Luke Williams, Harrison Sykes, Toby McCloud, Brandan Farrant, Robson Burke, Sam Brindle, Dylan Ellis, Matthew James, Harry Wright
