Romford win first game of the season with cup victory at Chingford

Romford made the trip to Chingford for the first round of the Essex cup. With Park winless this season there was a real desire to put their first win on the board and it was Romford who started the better of the two sides and pinned back their opponents from the off. Park continued to camp out in Chingfords half and the pressure soon told as Bailey Finnlayson touched down to open Parks tally for the game, converted by Sam Slatford.

Still looking lost Romford continued to push for more points and it was Bailey again who caused trouble for the hosts when yet again exploited a weak right hand side for Chingford, which again was converted again by Sam Slatford.

The game progresses on and the game felt more like a training session as Romford continued to go through the phases and again Park exploited the right side of the pitch in the form of Sam Slatford who added to his points tally of the day. Park continued pushing but could not add any more before the break, half time RGP 19 Chingford 0.

The second half kicked off and the opposition made a handful of changes and reshuffled their team, this made them are more solid outfit and demonstrated some flair. More hotly contested the game was being played closer to the halfway line than in the first half, but Chingford could not keep resisting and Ade Olaeye crashed over the line to continue to build Parks lead. Thayne Henwood stepped up to take the conversion but showed he has many qualities, but one of them is not kicking.

Chingford started to put pressure on park and I'd have their two minutes of fame and touched down on the last play to end the game 24-5 to Romford.

On a sadder note Ryan Page played his last game for the club and we wish him well in the future.

But on a final note a good platform to build on with a solid team display.
