On a day where the rain poured down the Under 13's showed great character to overcome the odds for a draw away from home.

Romford made the trip to Billericay for their 3rd away game on the spin. The game kicked off with Romford receiving but the wet ball caused the catch to be dropped and the first test of the match for Parks scrum; which was passed with flying colours as Romford one the ball against the head but couldn't make anything out of the possession.

The game continued and the hosts were making Park work hard to escape their own half, this was until some slick passing by the backs allowed Owen Flower to set up Bailey Finnlayson to touch down under the posts, try converted by Ryan Blinkhorne.

The game was restarted and the ball was well collected by Park and again strung together some good passing started by Tom Chapman allowing Flower to set off Finnlayson again only for him to unselfishly pop the ball to Luke Metcalf to touch down for Parks second try of the match and again confidently converted by Blinkhorne.

Billericay continued to push to draw themselves back into the game and seemed keen to avoid the pace of Finnlayson on the left hand side of the pitch and chose to attack right side but Ryan Pooley demonstrated he was no push over and cut out Billericay on both sides of the pitch.

Half time - Billericay 0 RGP 14

The second half kicked off with the rain still pouring down and Jack and Scott both put up umbrella's and with two failled attempts at a drop kick restart, a lost scrum and Billericay scoring both put the umbrella's to avoid the fate of Steve McClaren. But Romford seemed to go to sleep for 5 minutes allowed the hosts to take the lead for the first time in the game (19-14).

But after this Park were soon back on task and continued to push to regain the lead. But with the Referee keen to play center stage and intended to make life as hard for Romford as possible. Park continued to battle against the 16 men of Billericay but could not get a decision go their way within the Billericay half.

The last play resulted in Park getting a penalty which was well driven for Thayne Henwood to touch down to level the game.

All the boys showed tremendous character to continue to work hard and not give up despite the difficult conditions and are continuing to show massive a progression from the early games of the season and have put themselves in good stead for the upcoming league and cup games in the next two weeks.

Final score: RGP 19 Billericay 19
