Romford made the trip to Woodford for the first game of 2015.Still a couple of players short the boys again had to mix and match positions. But the good news was Sam Slatford was making a return from injury.
The game kicked off and both sides were evenly contested the game with both sides failing to give much to the other. But it wasn't long before the hosts picked up a loose ball to break through the middle and score the first try of 2015 .
Park continued to apply pressure but we're unable to stop woodford spreading wide to add another try. After this Park dropped the intensity and wood ford were allowed to touchdown twice more before the break.
The second half kicked off and again Park were slow to close down with only a few players working in top gear allowing Woodford to extend their lead.
However Romford did score one try in the form of Luke Metcalf who reacted well to a dropped ball to kick and chase then touch down for Romfords first try of the year. Converted by Sam Slatford.
The game ended in a scrappy fashion with parts of the final ten minutes resembling a football match but Woodford were able to touchdown twice more before the final whistle.
Final score Woodford 38 RGP 7
Tries: Luke Metcalf
Cons: Sam Slatford
Both teams will meet in the league later in the season and we imagine both sides will come out a lot better than today setting the stage for a much better game of rugby.
