Romford Unlucky To Share The Points As Barking Grab A Last Gasp Try

Romford made the short trip to barking for their 3rd league game of the season, after the disappointment of last week the boys had regrouped well ready for the league test.

The game kicked off and it was quick to see take the wind was going to play a large role within the game. Both teams were evenly contesting the game in the middle and neither side gave the other and inch.

But it was in the tenth minute of the first half that the deadlock was broken as Parks long term pressure in Barking's 22 as the ball was spread wide for Bailey Finlayson to touch down for his first points of the year - Sam Slatford's conversion was controversially ruled out.

But Barking were quickest to react from the restart stealing the ball at the ruck to touch down and level the scores. The game then took a strange turn as both teams seemed to slow down slightly confused with a call they might of heard from the ref but the hosts again had the better reactions to take the lead for the first time in the match.

Romford however showed that they were a different team from the one that lost last week and regrouped to level the game up just before the break. As the game continued into 15 minutes additional time Barking retook the lead on the half time whistle. Half time Barking 15 RGP 10

The second half started similar to the first with both teams contesting the game in and around the half way line, but the next try come as a result of some Barking pressure where Park turned the ball over at the scrum to break and level up the scores. Infused by this Romford played some of the best rugby of the match as they move the ball from one wing to the other to allow Finlayson to touch down for his fourth try of the match.

Park were unable to capitalize on this as from the restart they pressure Park back onto their own 5 metre line. A scrum was awarded to Barking and the referee fail again to notice the prop leaving the scrum early and he crashed over the line to bring the game within two points, Barking then converted the try leveling up the game.

The match official the played the shortest 2 minutes and missed and obstruction as Barking were able to score a converted try and steal the game at the last.

The game was well contested by both sides and played well within the spirit of the game.

Final Score: Barking 29 RGP 22
