Park Return to Winning Ways in a Tight Game at Home to Baisldon

Romford welcomed Baisldon to Crow Lane for this weekends encounter, after the disappointment of Dagenham two weeks ago Park; although depleted as a result of Essex trials and injuries were determined to put in a positive performance. This was clearly going to be a hard test as Baisldon looked much bigger and better than old.

The first half was a close encounter which saw the visiting team get the better spoils but Park were holding firm and the half time score was 0-0.

The second half however was a much more lively encounter with both side playing more fluent rugby being played making it more open. But is was the hosts who made the break through despite a superb try saving tackle from Tom O'meara, the visitors were able to break through touching down in the corner.

The Romford of old would have dropped their heads and probably would have been walked over. But he bounce back quickly and spread the ball well and Torez Poluis was unlucky not to be able to go the full distance and touch down. But it wasn't long before Luke Metcalf was rewarded for all of his hard work on the pitch and was able to score a superb solo try to level the game at 5-5.

This reinvigorated Romford who continued to carve out chances but Baisldon held firm. Baisldon had a big pack but Romford were not letting up in the forward either with Ade Olaleye putting in big hits and Lewis Potter and Ben Walton showed massive signs of improvement by matching up with hits they wouldn't do just a couple of months ago.

Romfords second try however come against the head when Baisldon broke and were in all but from another solid Ryan Blinkhorne tackle which was turned over and Sam Slatford was able to break to score the try; conversion by Ryan Blinkhorne. giving Park a 12-5 lead.

Tired legs pushed on and they held out for the final few minutes to finish with a 12-5 win - it was hard to mention all the boys in the report but me and Ged was really proud of the drive and desire the boys showed to get back into the game. Good momentum and long may it continue.

Final Score - RGP 12 Baisldon 5

RGP: 12

tries: Luke Metcalf and Sam Slatford
cons: Ryan Blinkhorne (1)

Baisldon: 5
