Sharks on fire in season opener

Romford & Gidea Park Under 13's travelled to Chingford RFC for their first match in Youth Rugby

The Sharks quickly took the initiative and within the first couple of minutes, wing Brandan Farrant sped through the defence to score Romfords first try of the season with Ross Walters converting.

Farrants second try followed soon after with Walters again converting. Romford were playing some fine rugby and fly-half Walters joined in the try scoring himself with two more, Farrant converting the second.

Number 8 Ronnie Brooks finished off another fine move to score the Sharks fifth try of the first half and give Romford a 29-0 lead at the break

The dominance continued in the second half with forwards strong and backs using the full width of the pitch, the home team struggling to match them.

Full Back Harry Wright scored a fine individual try, running back to collect a kick forward then running 3/4 of the pitch to score

Flanker Robson Burke added another soon after and two tries from centre Kieran Philpot completed the comprehensive victory

What a start to Youth rugby for the Sharks, they played with great freedom using the whole width of the pitch with forwards dominating and backs playing a lovely passing game. There will tougher challenges ahead but this was a real confidence boost to the team
