Comfortable victory for Sharks

Romford Under 13’s travelled to Rochford RFC for the latest round in the re-vamped Essex Cup

It was the Sharks second visit to the hosts this season and after putting 97 points on the board last time, confidence was high

Romford made a fast start and were quickly ahead when wing Brandan Farrant finished off a good move to score under the posts. Ross Walters converted

Try number two came in the eighth minute, another good passing move saw the ball go out to wing Toby McCloud, who cut inside and raced for the line, only to be tackled just short, but from the ruck that followed the ball was picked up by second row Dylan Ellis who dived over the line to score.

Try number three came from scrum half Harrison Sykes who bundled his way through some tackles to score a good try. Walters converted and the Sharks were 19-0 ahead at half time.

Two minutes into the second half, captain Ronnie Brooks picked up the ball in his own half and raced through unchallenged to score another good try. Farrant converted this one and Romford extended their lead to 26-0

Full back Harry Wright was next on the scoresheet, again running through unchallenged to score the Sharks fifth try of the morning. Farrant converted again 33-0

Sykes scored his second try of the match, racing through after some good forward work to touchdown.

Farrant then scored his second and Romfords seventh try with a strong finish on the wing. He converted his own score and made the final score 45-0 to Romford.

A comfortable win for the Sharks against a team that had certainly improved from our previous visit.
