Good Performance but defeat at Braintree

Romford U13’s travelled to Braintree RFC for their latest game

Conceding early tries have been a problem recently for the Sharks and the problem struck again when the home team went through in the fifth minute to score their first try

Romford were under pressure and having to defend well which they did until Braintree broke through again to score a converted try after seventeen minutes

Sharks full back Harry Wright got Romford back into the game when he picked up the ball well in his own half and ran down the line to score an excellent try. Fly Half Ross Walters converted and reduced the deficit to 12-7

Just before half time, the hosts drove over the line again to make the half time score 17-7

Into the second half and the Sharks started well. Captain Ronnie Brooks picked up the ball from the back of a ruck just inside Braintrees half and ran through the centre of their defence to score under the posts. Brandan Farrant scored the conversion and the score was cut to 17-14 in favour of the home team.

Sadly for Romford, back came the hosts with another try and the lead was increased to eight points.

Sharks left wing Farrant kept the team in the game with another fine try, avoiding a couple of challenges to race through and score. The score was back to 22-19

Unfortunately, two more tries, one converted saw Braintree home by 34 points to 19
