report

With a nod to the upcoming festival season, both teams wanted to give their full squads a run out, so 4 x 15 minute quarters with 10 boys a side was the order of the day.
Both sides were evenly matched with near tries cancelled out with solid defence. Ongar opened the scoring with a solo runner cutting through the Park defence. The scores were levelled when Billy Watts snatched the ball from the base of a ruck and dived over the line.
Park then seemed to lose concentration, and Ongar ran in 4 unanswered tries by using the width of the pitch as the boys were caught bunching in the middle of the pitch. The wake up call was eventually answered, and Ciaran, making his full debut, powered his way into the Ongar defence making good yards with each carry. Arbi went over from short range, followed by another from Logan to make more of a match.
Ongar then exploited Parks lack of width again to extend the lead to 9 tries to 3. The never say die attitude Park have kicked in again, with Lee powering towards the Ongar line with 3 tacklers hanging on for dear life. A quick offload saw the supporting Sam W get a well deserved try. Luke then returned the kick off with interest, and a well timed pass saw Haydn go over for Parks No 5, and William M drove over for number 6.
Park then took control with their rucking and use of the ball, but Ongar defence held firm. A kick from defence and a kind bounce allowed Ongar a try totally against the run of play. The forceful tackles of Reece eventually paid off when a dropped ball was picked up and run home by Logan for his second of the match.
