Two Strong Wins Against Bancroft

Romford Players – Finlay McKeown, Warren Petrie, Harry Warrington, Freddie French, Charles Stacey, Daniel Bamford, Joseph Mcdermott, Zack McClenaghan, Bobby Morley, Oliver Grundy, Norton Tully, Jayden Theron, Kyian Jeffrey, Nathaneal Judd.

It was Romfords turn to travel to Bancroft this morning on a wet, cold miserable day, but the Rugby produced by the Romford boys was anything but miserable. The squad was a little short with 14 boys raring to go but that didn’t dampen their spirits, they all stepped up and never really gave Bancroft a chance to get into their stride.

First Match: RGP 6 – Bancroft 1
Try Scorers: Zack McClenaghan, Jayden Theron, Oliver Grundy, Freddie French, Warren Petrie, Kyian Jeffrey

Romford started strong and were 4 – 0 up at half time. That was the result of some nice tackling from the Romford boys, the ball was passed out well to the wingers and some fast paced running lead to the inevitable early try scoring lead. Bancroft were a decent side and made quite a few nice tackles stopping a few try scoring runs from the Romford boys, but Romford were to strong in the middle, tackling well and rucking hard forcing errors and constantly pushing over that gain line. The second half started well with Warren Petrie’s first touch of the ball being a catch from the starting kick and running down the wing to convert it to a try. It finished up 6 – 1 with Bancroft managing to nick a late try in the second half but Romford were never under no real pressure it looked like Romford were back on form an easy first win of the new year.

Second Match: RGP 4 – Bancroft 1
Try Scorers: Finlay McKeown, Jayden Theron, Kyian Jeffrey, Zack McClenaghan.

Bancroft started this game with a bit more fight in their belly and put Romford under a bit of pressure in the opening minutes of the game. Bancroft scored the first try and nearly managed a second until the Romford boys readjusted and quickly got back to business. First half finished 2 -1 as a result of two nice try’s that came from a pitch length run from Finlay McKeown and a fast paced run from Jayden Theron. It all finished up 4 -1 with Kyian Jeffery and Jayden Theron both back on the scoring sheet again. A good performance from all the Romford boys and another well deserved win.
