Romford gave an outstanding effort this morning at the Thurrock festival and made it to the final but lost out to Wanstead with an injury-hit team playing with the only 8 men they had left against Wansteads 9. Romford started well and stamped their authority on the group with two strong wins over Old Brentwood and Upper Clapton. Romford looked strong rucking well and tackling hard and looked up for it scoring 4 trys in each of these games. Romford needed at least a draw in the third game against Woodford and they got it. It was a tight 1 – 1 draw and was pretty much action from start to finish. Both teams defended well and gave it their all but the draw was enough to see Romford through to the final and the boys were ecstatic. Unfortunately through out the morning the tough going had took its toll on the Romford squad and their 12 man squad was down to only 8 players available. Romford tried their best but unfortunately it was not going to be their morning and lost the final but came a well deserved second. Another great morning of rugby and another great achievement for the boys, Well Done Lads!!.
