Romford U8's show some real class vs Woodford

We were happy to welcome Woodford this weekend and they didn't disappoint by visiting in numbers. We have an ongoing issue at the U8's at the moment in that we lack personnel only fielding 7-8 players. This has resulted in the boys having to play 3 or 4 matches on the spin without any rest, in true Romford grit the lads put in another full shift, giving their all. "Can i be sub ?", was the most prominent question as opposed the the usual "can I be captain ?".

Romford started well in game one with some strong defense, forcing turn overs and making good yards. They boys had a real buzz and flow about them hitting the ball at pace, with fluid support and great off loads scoring some excellent tries. With Jimmy Doman, Riley Claxton- Smith and William Oliver bossing midfield and always in support. Rocky Slade, Freddy Clark and George Hiller making great yards with speed stepping off both feet and Max Salmon and Brian Corr punching up holes with some direct hard lines Romford won the game comfortably. The lads stepped off the gas in defense in game two letting Woodford have much more of the ball in an even match.

Romford gifted Woodford the first half of game three making unforced errors and losing their shape, with tiredness seeming a major factor the lads were well down. Going into half time William Oliver made a try saving play chasing down the flying winger with both players crashing into the touch n goal flagpole, invigorated Romford scored from the turn over. With tensions rising in the second half, Romford went back to the fluid energetic play of game one shutting out Woodford and clawing back the deficit. Some great play in midfield saw George Hiller snap up a turnover and ghost through the Woodford ranks for the winner.
