U8's Hit top gear

Romford visited Ongar and the mood was business like after their first defeat of the season last Sunday. Even the warm up was a feisty affair with the lads getting stuck into each other.

William Oliver went straight in from the whistle, then again after great defence forced a turn over, he was on the loose ball and over the try line before Ongar had time to turn and chase. Romford were really defending as a unit, up in a line and at speed giving Ongar no time on the ball. Max Salmon, Riley Claxton-Smith and Sam Playle (2) added 4 more scores to Ongar's 3. Jimmy Doman and George Hiller added 2 more giving Romford an unassailable lead.

Game 2 was much the same, Jimmy Doman was unstoppable and and great in support scoring 5, William Oliver 2 and Strake Brannon 1. Ongar were well on the back foot and had no reply to Romford's blitz defence.

In the final game Romford upped the pace again some strong running by Freddy Clark and great defence by William Oliver making 5 tags in a row saw Romford 3-1 up, resulting in the ref blowing up early, Ongar's body language was down, seeming as if they'd had enough. It was the right call.
