Romford welcomed Enfield Ignatius and Harlow, both clubs with good pedigree. We knew we would have to up our game to get a positive result.
Romford stared at a furious pace against Enfield, some great offence and defence was seen by both sides. The game was end to end, with the teams trading blows and matching try for try ,the lads went in at half time 5-5. Some strong running by Hiller and Slade saw them scoring a brace a piece while Salmon made a great arrowing run at blisteting pace that a cannon ball would have been proud of, only for play to be called back for an infingement. Brannon scored a great solo try to even the score. The second half was much the same, Romford though showed more resilience in defence, with Oliver leading the line, forcing errors and showing great footwork to score 4 tries, the move of the match was a fast flowing team effort ending in a miss pass by Oliver to Doman who plucked the ball out of the air punching through a gap in the Enfield defence for probably his easiest try this season. The Harlow game was much the same, both sides playing at speed and very equal in all departments, Clarke forced himself over for a try after Romford bundled the ball up the touch line in a very physical move. Tries by Hiller, Slade and Oliver also added to Romfords total. It was great defence as a unit and the interplay between the lads in midfield that saw Romford edge over. Doman was all over the park in support, he was rewarded with 7 tries in total, always there to take the try scoring pass and just enough to steal the spoils. Romford 11 Harlow 9
