Lads go above and beyond to keep unbeaten run going.

Romford's 10 little warriors took on the might of Upminster Sunday playing no less than 4 of their teams one after the other.

Romfrord: George Hiller, Freddie Clark, Sam Playle, Rocky Slade, Brian Corr, Max Salmon, Strake Brannon, Riley Claxton-Smith, Jimmy Doman and William Oliver

Results: Upminster Chiefs 5-7 Romford
Upminster Saints 6-6 Romford
Upminster Tigers 8-10 Romford
Upminster Falcons 6-9 Romford

In what was an exiting and very equal encounter, another little piece of history was added to these two very close rivals. I'm sure these lads will grow up together over the years and end up on winning and losing sides, but more likely on the same side at county level. We would like to thank Upminster for their great hospitality. In what was a hard fought, fair and committed effort, which saw both teams play some very fluid and expansive rugby for their age, Romford just edged ahead in 3 of the 4 games. Having said that, it could have easily gone the other way with Romford on the loosing end. Both teams showed real flair in attack, Upinster scored some great tries with slick passing. Romford though responded in kind, Claxton-Smith and Doman were all over the park in support and with great speed and guile kept Romford right in the hunt against an impressive attack. All the matches were on a knife edge but it was rugby basics that won the day. Romford's defence was outstanding, with the attack going over try for try it was these vital turnovers that made the difference. Oliver was a defensive dynamo, making 5 tags on the spin, forcing knock on's, forward passes, introducing the opposition the touchline and on every lose ball. With Slade, Brannon, Clark, Hiller, Salmon, Oliver, and Playle all on the score sheet this really was a team effort. Having Corr back was a great lift for the side, Claxton-Smith and Doman were racking up tries, keeping the football and defending well was key in this fixture, a great effort by all.
